So I just signed up for ING direct. My older brother has been urging me for years to
sign up for an orange savings account. He said I could early a lot more money than at BOA. But I'm mad lazy. Which just frustrated him even more. LOL!
What inspired me to do this? Well I finally got a job on campus. I'm going to be working at the IT department, working in the computer lab. What are my tasks? Changing the printer paper. Basically I paid for doing my homework, which is pretty cool.
So what are my thoughts on this
new online bank? It's a lot easier to use then I originally expected. Sign-up took maybe ten minutes at the most. I did have to wait several days for them to verify my account. Their verification process is quite interesting. What they do is is make two small deposits in your checking account. You then have to confirm the amounts that they deposited. Fortunately I didn't have to wait for my monthly statements because I have
online banking set up with BOA.
My bro was right though - the rates are far higher with ING than BOA. I think BOA was giving me something ridiculous - like .5% or something. They aren't in great financial condition so I guess they're going after people with overdraft fees and crappy interest rates.
